How the app identifies a Leaf
Leaf Pro first uses available vehicle identity data, including VIN and battery-reply structure. When those cannot identify the model family, it probes supported vehicle-control requests. An imported car with a domestic chassis number, a replaced pack or an unusual VIN may need closer attention.
Correct the model family
Go to Settings → Car → Model. “Detected” lets the app select its request set from the vehicle information. Choosing a model manually overrides automatic identification. Use the family that actually describes the vehicle; selecting a newer model will not give an older ECU new capabilities.
| Family | Typical years |
|---|---|
| ZE0 | 2011–2012 |
| AZE0 | 2013–2017 |
| ZE1 | 2018-onward ZE1 family |
The third-generation Leaf is not confirmed supported. Registration years and model years can differ, particularly for imports; consult the vehicle records if you are unsure.
Confirm the battery pack
The battery-pack selector appears during onboarding and in Settings. Leaf Pro offers 24, 30, 40 and 62 kWh choices. Automatic detection is helpful but can be a guess where the available data is ambiguous. If a replacement pack has been installed, verify its specification rather than relying only on the original vehicle year.
What a wrong choice changes
Battery size feeds derived capacity and energy estimates. A 24 kWh car incorrectly set to a larger pack can produce misleading comparisons even when its measured voltage is correct. Correct the setting before comparing reports. Directly reported values and calculated values should be interpreted differently; the app’s source labels can help when investigating an inconsistency.
A manual correction does not rewrite the car’s identity or repair its battery controller. It changes how Leaf Pro interprets and presents the data.
