1. Who is responsible
Leaf Pro is operated by GK Micro Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under number 08099992, with registered office at 2 Brampton Close, Kirkby, Liverpool, England, L32 1BD (“we”, “us”). We are the controller for personal information we determine how and why to use in providing Leaf Pro. Contact: admin@leaf-pro.com. This policy covers the mobile app and its support services. The separate website privacy policy covers leaf-pro.com.
The app is currently preparing for public release. This policy describes its implemented functionality and the services used when the relevant feature is enabled. Actual availability can depend on the build, your device, permissions and vehicle.
2. Vehicle readings and local records
The app communicates with your chosen OBD2 adapter to read supported vehicle information. This may include VIN or other vehicle identifiers, model and battery information, health and cell readings, charge counters, temperatures, speed, odometer and other supported signals. Adapter names and identifiers may be stored to reconnect.
Preferences, recorded journeys, assessment data and local diagnostic logs are stored on your device. The app does not automatically upload your complete journey CSV or battery assessment to a Leaf Pro cloud account. This does not mean the app has no external data flows: maps, elevation lookup, purchases, advertising, updates and support are described below. Device backup or cloud-backup features you enable may also copy local app data under the platform provider’s settings.
3. Location, motion and background recording
If you allow location and journey GPS logging, the app records location coordinates, timestamps, accuracy, speed and altitude where available. Location supports routes, distance, comparisons and elevation. A barometer can supply pressure and relative elevation; supported Android devices can provide GNSS height.
Automatic or background journeys may use location while the app is not visible when the necessary permission is granted. You can turn off automatic recording, background recording or GPS logging in the app and revoke location access in the phone’s settings. Revocation may prevent the associated functionality. It does not erase previously recorded coordinates; delete saved records separately.
4. Maps and terrain elevation
Viewing journey maps requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap’s tile service. Requests reveal network information such as IP address and the map areas requested. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
If a finished journey lacks usable barometer/GPS elevation, opening its detail can send its recorded coordinates to Open-Meteo to obtain terrain heights. This fallback can occur automatically when the app detects missing or frozen altitude; it is not a separate manual upload button. The service also receives ordinary connection information. The results are saved locally. See Open-Meteo’s terms and privacy information. To avoid creating new location-based records, disable GPS logging and location access; that does not remove or prevent processing of existing records when you open them.
5. Support messages and service communications
When you use in-app Help, we receive the message you send, an app-generated device identifier, app version, platform and an optional contact email. A conversation identifier links your thread and replies. The app stores a local conversation history and checks for replies while waiting. Our feedback service uses Cloudflare infrastructure.
The app also requests active service messages using its platform, version and an app-open count. Requests can create ordinary server logs, including IP address and request time. If you send screenshots, exports or diagnostic reports separately, we receive what you choose to send; those files may include vehicle identifiers or precise locations. Please review them first.
6. Store purchases
Apple App Store or Google Play processes payments. Leaf Pro uses RevenueCat to validate and restore purchase entitlements. This involves an app-user identifier, store transaction or receipt/token information, purchased products and entitlement status, together with relevant technical information. We do not receive your full payment-card details through this process. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy and your store’s privacy information.
7. Advertising and privacy choices
The free app can display a Google AdMob banner. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may process IP address, device or advertising identifiers, app interactions and diagnostic information for advertising delivery, measurement, security and fraud prevention. Personalisation and storage/access choices depend on consent, region, platform settings and SDK configuration. See Google advertising information.
The app uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to request a privacy choice where configured and required before requesting ads. Buying the battery-health unlock removes the banner. Removal does not erase records already held by an advertising provider. Operating-system advertising controls can limit identifier use; they do not necessarily stop all network processing.
If you want to withdraw an advertising choice and cannot find an appropriate control in your installed version, contact admin@leaf-pro.com before continuing ad-supported use. We will explain the available route for that version and region. Merely accepting this policy is not consent to personalised advertising.
8. Updates, links and sharing
Store update checks contact Apple or Google as appropriate. Opening an external link passes ordinary web-request information to that destination. Some in-app retailer links contain an affiliate tag; purchases through them may generate a commission without changing the product’s price set by the retailer.
Exports use your phone’s share sheet. A CSV or PDF may contain vehicle and journey information, while the drive-share card deliberately omits VIN, location and battery-health values. You choose the recipient. Email, cloud-storage and social services process their own copies under their own policies.
9. Purposes and legal bases
| Purpose | Basis where UK GDPR applies |
|---|---|
| Provide requested recording, display, support and purchase functionality | Performance of our contract with you, where processing is necessary for that service. |
| Optional location use and non-essential advertising storage/access | Consent where required. OS permission and any legally required consent remain distinct. |
| Protect and maintain services, diagnose faults and address misuse | Legitimate interests in a secure and dependable service, balanced against your rights. |
| Meet accounting, regulatory and other binding duties | Compliance with legal obligations. |
| Handle disputes and enforce lawful terms | Legitimate interests and, where applicable, legal obligations. |
You need not provide optional location or a contact email to read supported vehicle data. Refusing information necessary for a particular feature can make that feature unavailable. We do not use battery reports to make solely automated decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects.
10. Retention and deletion
Local journeys and assessments remain until you delete them, clear app data or otherwise remove them. Exports and device backups can survive separately. Diagnostic history is bounded in memory; a report you copy or send is a separate record.
We retain support records for as long as needed to resolve the enquiry, follow up on the reported issue and retain a proportionate record of the interaction. Security logs are kept for operational and abuse-investigation needs. Purchase and financial information may be retained for required accounting, refund, fraud or legal-claim periods. We assess retention according to purpose, sensitivity, unresolved issues and legal duties rather than promising a single deletion period for every category. Third-party controllers apply their own retention rules.
11. Recipients and international processing
Information is available to those who need it to operate and support the service, and the hosting, support, payment, advertising, map and elevation providers described above. We may disclose necessary information to professional advisers, authorities when legally required, or a successor as part of a lawful business transfer with appropriate protections. We do not sell your saved journey files to data brokers.
Our service providers may process information in the United Kingdom, the EEA, the United States and other locations in their service networks. Where we are responsible for a restricted international transfer, the law requires an applicable adequacy arrangement, appropriate contractual safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or another valid legal mechanism. Contact us for information about the providers and safeguards relevant to your data. A link to a provider’s policy does not replace our own obligations.
12. Your choices and rights
Depending on the law and the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of your personal information. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it; that does not invalidate earlier lawful processing. These rights are subject to applicable exceptions, including legal recordkeeping and the establishment, exercise or defence of claims.
Send requests to admin@leaf-pro.com. We may request proportionate information to verify identity and locate the record. We respond within the applicable legal time limit, normally one month for UK GDPR requests, subject to permitted extensions. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office, or your relevant local supervisory authority. You do not have to contact us first.
To remove information stored only on your phone, use the app’s record-deletion controls or the device’s app-data controls. We cannot remotely retrieve or delete a file that has never been sent to us. For server-held support records, identify the thread or contact details used so we can locate it.
13. Security and children
We use proportionate organisational and technical safeguards, but no app, wireless connection, device or internet service is completely secure. Protect your phone, keep software current and review shared exports. Leaf Pro is intended for vehicle owners and authorised adult users, not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us, contact us so we can assess and address it.
14. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when functionality, providers or legal requirements change. The date above identifies this version. Material changes will be brought to your attention where required; a new policy does not retrospectively create consent. Questions or requests: admin@leaf-pro.com.
